👂 Faith Comes by Hearing — Choose the Word That Brings Faith
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
🎨 Highlight key: 🟩 = grace / faith-truth · 🟨 = precious promise · bold = key terms

1️⃣ Before Miracles — Where Do You Listen?
We need miracles, healing, deliverance, joy, and peace — but the first question is not how long you pray. It is where you listen and what you hear. Ask anyone how to receive miracles and they will say: listen. The vital follow-up is: did you actually hear?
- 🎯 Priority — hearing comes before asking for breakthrough
- ❓ Key question — not “did you pray?” but “did you hear?”
- ⏱️ Hours of prayer — faith must be present in every prayer, not just duration
- 🩺 Outcome — faith-filled prayer saves the sick; empty words do not
2️⃣ Mary Chose the Good Part — நல்ல பங்கைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டாள்

Martha served diligently — good works, but distracted. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. Jesus called that the one thing needed: the good part that will not be taken away. When you choose hearing, your life changes — health, joy, and deliverance follow.
- 🪑 Sit at His feet — posture of receiving, not performing
- 👂 Hear His word — the good part Mary chose
- 🍽️ Martha’s trap — busy service without hearing leaves you worried
- ✨ Promise — the good part cannot be taken from you
Luke 10:38–42 (NKJV)
“…Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word… ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’” — Luke 10:38–42 (NKJV)
3️⃣ Faith-Filled Prayer Saves the Sick
James does not say “long prayer” or “emotional prayer” saves the sick — he says the prayer of faith. Faith must be present in every prayer you offer. Without faith, even hours of petition accomplish nothing. With faith, the Lord raises the sick and forgives sin.
- 🩺 James 5:15 — prayer of faith saves the sick
- ⛰️ Mark 11:22–24 — have faith in God; believe you receive when you pray
- 🚫 Not petition alone — asking without faith is empty
- ✅ Faith in all prayer — every request must carry faith, not just some
James 5:14–15 (NKJV)
“…And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” — James 5:14–15 (NKJV)
Mark 11:22–24 (NKJV)
“Have faith in God… whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” — Mark 11:22–24 (NKJV)
4️⃣ Faith and Hope Are Not the Same
Hebrews 11:1 and Romans 8:24 use two different words — pistis (faith) and elpis (hope). Hope waits for what is unseen with the mind. Faith is a spirit — the substance and evidence of things not yet seen. Paul says we have the spirit of faith: “I believed, therefore I spoke.”
| Hope (elpis) | Faith (pistis) |
|---|---|
| Mental waiting for what is unseen | Spirit — substance and evidence |
| “We hope it will happen” | “I believe, therefore I speak” |
| Perseverance while waiting | Present reality that moves mountains |
| Mind-centred decision | Comes by hearing — not self-generated |
Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
Romans 8:24–25 (NKJV)
“For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope… if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.” — Romans 8:24–25 (NKJV)
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV)
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV)
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
“…we have the same spirit of faith… ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.” — 2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
5️⃣ Faith Comes by Hearing — விசுவாசம் கேள்வியினாலே வரும்
Faith is not manufactured by willpower — it comes. Romans 10:17 locates the source: hearing, and hearing by the word of God. You cannot believe what you have not heard. Many message types exist — rebuke, warning, guidance — but not every message produces faith.
- 📻 Romans 10:17 — faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God
- 🚫 Not self-made — you cannot will faith into existence
- 📢 Many messages — rebuke, warning, guidance — but not all produce faith
- 👂 Only one kind — hearing about the crucified Christ brings faith
Romans 10:14, 17 (NKJV)
“How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?… So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:14, 17 (NKJV)
Hebrews 12:1–2 (NKJV)
“…let us run with endurance the race… looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1–2 (NKJV)
6️⃣ Only the Crucified Christ Brings Faith
Paul asks the Galatians: did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing of faith? Does God work miracles among you by law or by hearing? He determined to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. That message — not general teaching — is what produces faith.
- ✝️ Galatians 3:1–5 — Christ crucified portrayed; Spirit and miracles by hearing of faith
- 📖 1 Corinthians 2:2 — know nothing except Christ crucified
- ⚡ 1 Corinthians 1:23–24 — preach Christ crucified: power and wisdom of God
- 🌊 Where the Spirit is — deliverance moves; miracles flow when faith-hearing happens
Galatians 3:1–5 (NKJV)
“…Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?… Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?… He who supplies the Spirit… and works miracles among you… by the hearing of faith?” — Galatians 3:1–5 (NKJV)
1 Corinthians 2:2 (NKJV)
“For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” — 1 Corinthians 2:2 (NKJV)
1 Corinthians 1:23–24 (NKJV)
“…we preach Christ crucified… to those who are called… Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” — 1 Corinthians 1:23–24 (NKJV)
7️⃣ When Faith Comes — Miracles Follow

When faith enters your life, the sick are healed, deliverance comes, joy and peace arrive. The Spirit is poured out. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But faith must come first — and it comes only by hearing the message of the crucified Christ.
- 🩺 Healing — the sick are saved when faith-filled prayer meets faith-hearing
- ⛓️ Deliverance — where the Spirit moves, chains break
- 😊 Joy & peace — fruit of faith arriving, not striving without hearing
- 🕊️ Spirit poured out — miracles and the Spirit come by hearing of faith
8️⃣ Choose Mary’s Part — Sit and Hear About Jesus
The closing call is simple: like Mary, sit at Jesus’ feet. Hear about Jesus — His crucifixion, His grace, His finished work. When you hear that message, faith comes. When faith comes, your life changes. Health breaks forth. Joy rises. Choose the good part.
- Sit at His feet — stop striving and start hearing
- Hear about Jesus — crucified, risen, gracious
- Let faith come — do not manufacture it; receive it by hearing
- Watch life change — healing, deliverance, joy follow faith
🎯 The Takeaway
- Faith-filled prayer — James 5:15; faith must be in every prayer, not just duration
- Faith ≠ hope — hope waits with the mind; faith is a spirit that comes by hearing
- Faith comes by hearing — Romans 10:17; you cannot believe what you have not heard
- Only crucified Christ — Galatians 3, 1 Corinthians 2; that message produces faith
- Choose Mary’s part — sit, hear, receive; miracles follow when faith arrives
