The Power of the Atonement: Understanding Christ’s Sacrifice

About various aspects of our faith—our gathering, leadership, the role of Jesus in our lives, and the essence of Christian life. Let’s dig in.

The Importance of Gathering

  • A Miracle in Europe:
Look around you. To have you all here on a Thursday is nothing short of a miracle. As the Good Book says in Hebrews 10:25, “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.”

Leadership & Planning in Ministry

  • Future Plans:
I’m excited to share that we’ve got leadership meetings and church plans for the UK coming up. As Proverbs 16:3 encourages us, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

The Importance of Preaching

  • Necessity of Certain Messages:
There are messages that I, too, struggle with, but I must preach them. Remember 2 Timothy 4:2? “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season.”

Revelation of Jesus Christ

  • The Question of Identity:
Remember that moment when Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say I am?” Peter had a revelation. He said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:15-16). What is your revelation of Jesus?

Salvation and Belief

  • The Power of Confession: Romans 10:9 lays it down clearly. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Eternal Life and Righteousness

  • Nature of God: We’re not just saved, we partake in the very nature of God, His righteousness and eternal life. Romans 3:22 states, “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.”

Wholeness in Jesus

  • Being Whole: When you come to Jesus, you don’t just get piecemeal benefits. Colossians 2:10 says, “and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.”

The Atonement

  • Meaning of “Sozo”: The Greek word “Sozo” encapsulates salvation, healing, and wholeness. 1 Peter 2:24 says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.”

Conclusion

We’ve covered a lot of ground, but the essence remains—Jesus is the focal point of our lives, and we have responsibilities as believers. Take these truths and let them soak into your life. God bless you all.

Christmas

Birth of Jesus Christ

Midnight became midday

Santa Claus

Word became flesh

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

Luke 9:55

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Matthew 17:25

He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

Matthew 17:26

Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

Grieving the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Ephesians 4:30

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Romans 3:21

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Father rebuking Peter at the Mount of transfiguration

While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Who are you in Christ?

What is the meaning of “In Christ Jesus”?

Children of God

John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Difference between slave and Children

Moses is a Servant, Jesus is a Son

Hebrews 3:5

And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

Hebrews 3:6

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

We are son’s of God

John 8:35

And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Prodigal Son

Luke 15:12

And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

Isaac and Jacob

Jacob while blessing Ephraim and Manasseh

Genesis 48:14

And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

I Can’t curse what God has blessed

Numbers 23:8

How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?

Numbers 23:20

Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

Everlasting Righteousness

Daniel 9:24

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

No one can snatch me out of my Father’s hand

John 10:28

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Sealed by the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:13

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

No anger

Psalm 103:9

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

Isaiah 54:9

For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

The Truth

Psalm 103:10

He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Fault in the Old Covenant

Hebrews 8:7

For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

How shall He not with Him freely give us all things

Romans 8:32

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Isaiah 54 a New Covenant Heritage

Galatians 4:21-31

World English Bible (WEB)

21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman. 23 However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise. 24 These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar. 25 For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free (GRACE/Sarah), which is the mother of us all. 27 For it is written,

“Rejoice, you barren who don’t bear.
Break out and shout, you that don’t travail.
For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband.” [1]

28 Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise. 29 But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. 30 However what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the servant and her son, for the son of the servant will not inherit with the son of the free woman.”[2] 31 So then, brothers, we are not children of a servant, but of the free woman.

  • Grace is always beautiful
  • Even kings wanted her
  • God always protected Grace

Paul Preaching Gospel in Antioch

Paul in Antioch

Acts 13:38-39
New King James Version (NKJV)

38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

  • Paul didn’t use the word repent
  • Many of those People wanted to hear the message again, Obviously people have repented.

Peter didn’t use “Repent” in Cornelius House

Peter didn’t use “Repent” in Cornelius House

Repentance to Life

  • In this below passage Repentance was not used

Acts 10:43-44
New King James Version (NKJV)

43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

Peter in Jerusalem regarding reaching to Gentiles

Acts 11:1-4
New King James Version (NKJV)

11 Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”

But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying:

Acts 11:15-18
New King James Version (NKJV)

15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”

18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

Many times in Gospel the word “Repentance” is not there.

Does that means Repentance is not happening?

  • Repentance means Metanoia, which means Change of Mind
  • Changing of Mind is still happening.

New Covenant Curse

New Covenant Curse

Double Curse

Galatians 1:6-9
New King James Version (NKJV)

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Because

  • God love the People
  • And the curse will stop them from Preaching another Gospel

The whole counsel of God

Acts 20:24-27
New King James Version (NKJV)

24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself,[a]so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

25 “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more. 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.

Unconditional Gospel

38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.40 Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:

41 ‘Behold, you despisers,
Marvel and perish!
For I work a work in your days,
A work which you will by no means believe,
Though one were to declare it to you.’

Blessing and Conflict at Antioch

42 So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. 43 Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.
