Split scene showing wrong identification with chains versus freedom through union with Christ

As He Is, So Are You: Possessing Your Inheritance and Freedom Through Identification

As He Is, So Are You: Possessing Your Inheritance Through Identification With Christ

1 John 4:17 (NKJV)

“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.”1 John 4:17 (NKJV)

🎨 Highlight key: 🟩 = identification / inheritance possessed · 🟨 = Hebrew word / springs of supply · 🔴 = wrong alliance / unpossessed land · bold = key terms

Whoever you identify with identifies with you — and whatever you identify with, you partake of. The breakthrough is not trying harder to break an addiction in your own strength; it is looking to the Lord Jesus and saying: as You are free from this, so am I in this world.

🔗 The Law of Identification

Identification is more than agreement in theory — it is alliance. When you say as He is, so am I, you are not wishing; you are confessing a union Scripture already declares. The Holy Spirit transforms you as you behold Christ free from the condition that binds you.

📖 Caleb, Aksah, and the Springs of Water

Caleb at 85 declared his strength undiminished — the same man whose daughter Aksah received the south land yet asked her father for more. She did not feel she was imposing. With the spirit of sonship, you honour God when you ask big.

Joshua 15:16-19 (NKJV)

“And Caleb said, ‘He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.’ … So it was, when she came to him, that she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, ‘What do you wish?’ She answered, ‘Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.’ So Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.”Joshua 15:16-19 (NKJV)

  • Upper springs — the Spirit upon for assignment; supernatural enablement for a task.
  • Lower springs — the Spirit within; abiding anointing that leads you daily.
  • Ministry needs both: the permanent inner life and the upon-anointing for the moment.
  • Feeling dry under the sun? Ask the Father for springs of water.

The south land is exposed to the sun — arid, yet able to bring forth precious fruit when springs of water flow. Word to God: raise children strong in faith who ask boldly like Aksah. Othniel was bold in warfare; his wife was bold in petition.

Kirjath Sepher means city of the book — the written Word conquered becomes the gateway to covenant blessing. Every name in Scripture carries meaning for land we have yet to possess.

🗺️ Very Much Land Yet to Be Possessed

It is one thing for God to give gifts and inheritance; it is another to enjoy them — to make them yours. Do not stop at knowing the gospel of grace intellectually while leaving vast territory unclaimed.

Joshua 13:1 (NKJV)

“Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: ‘You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.’”Joshua 13:1 (NKJV)

Joshua 14:10-11 (NKJV)

“And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.”Joshua 14:10-11 (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit places Joshua 13 and Joshua 14 side by side so we can compare: God told Joshua he was old; He never said that to Caleb. Caleb said, It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out — and at 85 he routed the giants. Jehoshaphat was a godly king whom the Lord blessed with riches and honour in abundance, yet he still had land to possess in how he allied himself.

☁️ Heavenly Places: Blessing and Battlefield

Every spiritual blessing is already yours in Christ — and the same phrase marks where darkness contests your enjoyment of those blessings.

Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV)

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

The enemy attacks where your inheritance lives — but God’s grace turns difficulty into nourishment. Stress is often the darkness of double distress: Shur (darkness) east of Mitzrayim (Egypt — double stress). When pressure rises, ask: what possession am I failing to claim?

🔤 Hebrew Words — Complete Glossary

WordTransliterationMeaning (as taught)
קִרְיַת סֵפֶרKirjath SepherCity of the book — the written Word to be taken
שׁוּרShurDarkness — east of Egypt in Joshua’s remaining land
מִצְרַיִםMitzrayimEgypt; plural form suggests double stress
חָבַרChabarTo join, ally, associate — verb behind Hebron
חֶבְרוֹןHebronFellowship, alliance — Caleb’s mountain possession
חֲבֻרָהChaburahStripe and alliance — Isaiah 53:5 healing through union with Christ

✝️ Chaburah: Stripes and Alliance in Isaiah 53

Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV)

“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV)

The word translated stripes is chaburah — from the same root as Hebron. It means stripe and alliance. By His union with you at the cross, He became sin that you might become righteousness; He bore disease that you might walk in wholeness. Healing flows through identification, not mere information about Him.

⚠️ Two Alliances: Jehoshaphat vs 1 John 4:17

2 Chronicles 18:3 (NKJV)

“And Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, ‘Will you go with me against Ramoth Gilead?’ And he answered him, ‘I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.’”2 Chronicles 18:3 (NKJV)

Jehoshaphat allied with a wicked king — and partook of that alliance’s outcome. The same phrase structure becomes life when spoken to Christ: as You are, so am I. Remember the nine monosyllables: as He is, so are we in this world — not as He was by Galilee, but as He is now, crowned with glory and honour.

1 John 4:17 (NKJV)

“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.”1 John 4:17 (NKJV)

You are not only one with Him in spirit — you are a member of His flesh and of His bones. In case you try to spiritualise it away: no — members of His body, His flesh, His bones. Does He have unhealthy flesh or brittle bones? Then confess: Lord Jesus, as You are healthy in every part of Your body, so am I in this world. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness — I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly trust in Jesus’ name.

When you need the anointing of God for a task that glorifies the Lord, ask for the upper spring — the Spirit upon. When the task ends and the anointing lifts, you are not abandoned: the lower spring, the Spirit within, still leads you every day.

🕊️ Confessions That Possess the Land

Where have you not yet looked to Jesus and spoken as You are … so am I? Name the area — addiction, weariness, temper, lack of favour — and possess it by identification.

  • Addiction: As You are free from this addiction, so am I free in this world.
  • Anointing: As Jesus is anointed, so am I in this world.
  • Favour: As Jesus is under the Father’s unclouded favour, so am I.
  • Strength: As Jesus is strong at the Father’s right hand, so am I in this world.
  • Temper: As You are free from anger, so am I — behold Him, and be transformed.

Throughout this week, when you see unpossessed territory, do not shrink back. Ask the Father for upper and lower springs. Say with boldness: there remains very much land — and I will possess it as He is, so am I.

🎯 The Takeaway

  1. 💚 Identification is alliance — whoever you identify with, you partake of; ally with Christ as He is now.
  2. 📖 Ask big like Aksah — upper and lower springs; sonship honours the Father through bold petition.
  3. 🗺️ Possess your possession — very much land remains; do not die with unenjoyed inheritance.
  4. ✝️ Chaburah heals — by His stripes and by His union, you are made whole and righteous.
  5. 🕊️ Confess freedom — as He is free from addiction, sickness, and condemnation, so are you in this world.

🙏 Prayer: Father, show me every area I have not possessed. As Jesus is, so am I — free, favoured, anointed, and strong. Grant me upper and lower springs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Upper and lower springs illustrating Spirit upon and Spirit within

Upper springs flow from the mountain for assignment; lower springs bubble from the ground as the abiding Spirit within.
