What is Repentance in this passage?

Before

Jews used to think :

  • Denied the Holy One and the Just, and
  • asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
  • 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

After

  • Accept the Holy One, and the Just
  • Accept Jesus is the Prince of Life

Changing your mind from Before to After is called Repentance

  • Repentance means Change of Mind.

Peter in Jerusalem regarding reaching to Gentiles

Acts 11:1-4

11 Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. 2 And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, 3 saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”

Many times in Gospel the word “Repentance” is not there. 

Does that means Repentance is not happening? 

  • Repentance means Metanoia, which means Change of Mind
  • Changing of Mind is still happening.

Its not

Salvation

  • Its not You make yourself clean then you will be saved
  • Its not You make yourself clean then accept Jesus

Real Salvation

  • You first accept Jesus then Jesus will clean you
  • You will be cleansed after taking a bath
  • You don’t clean yourself before taking a bath

Jesus picked us up from the miry clay

Still we have clay in our Eyes

  • Wash it in the water
  • Word of God represents the water in Bible

First Priority to See Jesus

  • Our First Priority is to open our eyes to see more of Jesus

  • Righteousness which is of the Law = own righteousness = Self Righteousness
    • Self Righteousness is a reward
  • God’s Righteousness is a Gift 

Romans 10:2-5

2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Explanation

We all have sinned. We all have leprosy

Old Testament

  • When a Leper touches another person, the other person gets Leprosy
  • Explains Leprosy is contagious
  • Explains sin is contagious

New Testament

  • When Jesus touched the Leper, the Leper received what Jesus had
  • Explains Righteousness is Contagious
