1 以撒把雅各叫到跟前，给他祝福，吩咐他说∶“不要娶迦南女人；

25 受割礼后的第三天，全城的男子还在割礼的疼痛中时，雅各的两个儿子－也就是底拿的亲哥哥西缅和利未带着刀剑进了城。他们大肆屠戮，杀光了全城的男子，

30 雅各对西缅和利未说∶“你们给我闯下祸了！住在这儿的迦南人、比利洗人都会恨我；我们人少力薄，他们一旦联合起来攻击我们，我们家族就要灭亡了！”

5 西缅与利未是同胞弟兄，他们以刀剑行凶。
