Can we become UnRighteous after becoming Righteous?

NO. Big NO

Hebrews 9:12

New International Version (NIV)

12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.

  • Eternal means you wont loose it once you receive it
  • Its mentioned as “Everlasting” in Amplified Version (Everlasting means Everlasting) (Hebrews 9:12)
  • Everlasting righteousness ( Daniel 9:24 )

Daniel 9:24

King James Version (KJV)

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

John 3:16

New King James Version (NKJV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

  • The word ‘everlasting’ is the Greek word ‘ionios
  • The same word ‘ionios’  used of God’s eternal being
  • The same word ‘ionios’ used for our Redemption (our Redemption is eternal )

I have just sinned. How can I still be righteous?

  • It’s NOT on what you do makes you righteous.
  • It’s NOT your obedience which make you righteous.
  • It’s on what Jesus did on the cross.
  • It’s Jesus obedience made you righteous
  • It doesn’t give you a certificate to sin
  • More you understand the Love of Jesus seen by his forgiveness, the more you stay away from sin automatically.

How you became righteous?

Power of being Righteous

For sinners

  • They don’t need to request for sickness
  • They don’t need to request for poverty
  • Everything automatically comes to them

For Righteous person

  • Blessings shall automatically chase them and overtake them
  • Riches chase them and overtake them
  • Health chase them and overtake them

But we are the Righteousness of God in Christ

NO Evil for the Righteous

Proverbs 12:21

Amplified Bible (AMP)

21 No [actual] evil, misfortune, or calamity shall come upon the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil, misfortune, and calamity.

  • God’s word can Never be broken
  • God’s word can Never be lie.
  • NO means literally NO

A Big NO

  • NO evil for the righteous
  • NO misfortune for righteous
  • NO calamity for righteous

Who are we?

How you became Righteous?

2 Corinthians 5:21

New International Version (NIV)

21 God made *Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

*Him represents Jesus

From the above verse,

How Jesus became sin without doing sin?

Similar,

You became the Righteousness of God in Christ without doing right deeds

Believing that we have been forgiven from our sins, past present and future: shows the love of God towards us

Knowing His goodness, leads us to repentance.

Must Reading:

Men who come against you shall be ashamed

Isaiah 45:23-24

King James Version (KJV)

23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

24 Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

How?

For Whom?

  • Person who say “I am the Righteousness of God in Christ”.
  • Person who finds strength in Jesus
  • Person who say “I became Righteous Not by My good deeds”, but by Jesus Righteousness.
  • Person who believes on Christ and on what He did on the cross.

ALL who incensed against you shall be ashamed

Jesus hates Self Righteousness

1. Fig Tree represents Self Righteousness

  • It started in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Even took Fig leaves to cover their nakedness, once after they sin
  • Jesus curses a fig tree
  • All sinners received healing from Jesus, except pharisees and Sadducees who believed on Self righteousness by keeping the commandments / law

Jesus Curses a fig tree

Mark 11:13-14

New International Version (NIV)

13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.

14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.

Mark 11:20-22

New International Version (NIV)

20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.

21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.

2. “Rich” Signifies Self Righteousness

Matthew 19:16-26 below

  • Jesus clearly replied “There is only One who is good” . One is Jesus Himself
  • No one else can be Righteousness, unless and until it is by believing Jesus and what He did on the cross
  • The man who came to Jesus was so much about his Self Righteousness and was boasting on his Self Righteousness
  • You will be Righteous only by believing on Jesus and on what He has done on the cross.  ( Not by your self righteousness : and so it says “seek ye first the Kingdom of God and HIS Righteousness ) more info
  • It shows “with man it is impossible to be self righteous”. Man has to rely on Jesus Righteousness. Hence New Covenant was made

Matthew 19:16-26

New International Version (NIV)

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

18 “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’”

20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.

24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

What is Holy Spirit Directed Activity?

Romans 7:5-6

Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 When we were living in the flesh (mere physical lives), the sinful passions that were awakened and aroused up by [what] the Law [makes sin] were constantly operating in our natural powers (in our bodily organs, in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh), so that we bore fruit for death.

6 But now we are discharged from the Law and have terminated all intercourse with it, having died to what once restrained and held us captive. So now we serve not under [obedience to] the old code of written regulations, but [under obedience to the promptings] of the Spirit in newness [of life].
