🕊️ Led by the Spirit Into Every Blessing: What Scripture Teaches About Abundant Life
John 10:10 (NKJV)
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Scripture teaches that God created you to receive His goodness — not to endure sickness, poverty, and despair that Christ already redeemed you from on the cross.
💝 God’s Nature: Perfect Love Pours Out
| What people say | What Jesus says |
|---|---|
| Christianity is a life of endless suffering | Life more abundantly (John 10:10) |
| Sickness may be God’s will for you | He bore our diseases (Isaiah 53:4–5) |
| Persecution = enduring redeemed evils | Persecution for righteousness is a privilege — not the same as sickness or lack |
- ✅ Love, by nature, pours out — God created man to receive His abundance
- ✅ Christ’s substitutionary work in Isaiah 53 covers diseases, griefs, and sins
- ✅ Anything short of life more abundant falls below Jesus’ stated purpose
Isaiah 53:4–5 (NKJV)
“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows… He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”
🩹 Leprosy: A Picture of Sin and Isolation
Leviticus 14 devotes an entire chapter to leper cleansing — not because leprosy was common, but because it types sin: isolating, degenerating, and cutting people off from family and worship.
| Leprosy picture | Spiritual truth |
|---|---|
| Cut off from family | Sin separates us from God and community |
| Moses’ hand turned leprous (Exodus 4) | Whatever the flesh touches stays unclean |
| Full-body leprosy pronounced clean | Admitting total sinfulness qualifies you for grace |
| “He shall be brought” to the priest (passive) | The Holy Spirit draws us — we do not save ourselves |
Leviticus 14:2–3 (NKJV)
“This shall be the law of the leper for the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought to the priest.”
⚠️ Key insight: Spiritual growth is not becoming stronger in yourself — it is realising the flesh has no good thing and depending more fully on Christ.
✝️ The Holy Spirit Draws Us to Christ
John 6:44 (NKJV)
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him.”
- ✅ You were not smart enough to come alone — the Spirit brought you
- ✅ Turning away from Christ means turning away from your own blessings
- ✅ Have compassion on those still in darkness — the gospel is good news for sinners
No Jew was cleansed of leprosy in the Old Testament until Jesus came. The cleansing ritual in Leviticus 14 was a shadow waiting for the substance — Christ our High Priest.
🏔️ Jesus Lives the Sermon on the Mount Through You
After preaching the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus walked a path the crowds did not follow — toward an isolated leper hiding among the rocks near Capernaum. The leper asked, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Matthew 8:2–3 (NKJV)
“And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.’ Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
| What Jesus preached | What Jesus does in you |
|---|---|
| “Love your enemies” — beyond human ability | He lives that life through you as you rest in Him |
| Sermon on the Mount standards | Only the One who preached it can live it — and He does, in believers |
| “I am willing” to heal | God’s will is healing — doubt is about willingness, not ability |
🕊️ Two Birds: Death, Resurrection, and the Spirit
Leviticus 14:4–7 prescribes two birds for the cleansed leper: one killed, one dipped in blood and water and released alive. This pictures Christ’s death and resurrection — the live bird stained with blood is the risen Lord, forever marked by what He endured for us.
Blood of the trespass offering — superabounding grace
| Body part anointed | What it represents |
|---|---|
| Right ear | What you hear becomes anointed and cleansed |
| Right thumb | What you touch and do prospers |
| Right toe | Where you walk becomes blessed — right place, right time |
The trespass offering means you receive more than what you lost. Where sin increased (pleonazo), grace superabounds (huperperisseuo) — beyond measure, overflowing its banks.
Then the oil (Holy Spirit) is placed on the blood — ear, thumb, and toe. Where the blood is honoured, the Spirit responds. Consciousness of cleansing blood releases the anointing.
1 John 1:7 (NKJV)
“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (present tense — continuously)
👑 The Cleansed Leper Becomes a Royal Priest
In ancient Israel, only kings, priests, and prophets received anointing oil. After cleansing, the leper — the poorest and most isolated — received oil on ear, thumb, and toe. Whatever sin cost you, grace restores with interest.
- ✅ Do not despair over sin — in that very area, superabounding grace is available
- ✅ Grace is not a licence to sin — it is the power not to sin
- ✅ Fearful expectation of judgment is the devil’s tool; grace sets you free
⚖️ Law Demands, Spirit Supplies
| First Pentecost (Old Covenant) | Pentecost (New Covenant) |
|---|---|
| Law given at Sinai | Holy Spirit poured out |
| 3,000 died (Exodus 32) | 3,000 saved (Acts 2:41) |
| Law demands righteousness | Spirit imparts righteousness as a gift |
| Cannot impart holiness | Supplies whatever you need today |
Luke 24:49 (NKJV)
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
Acts 2:33 (NKJV)
“Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.”
⚠️ Distinction: When you are saved, the Spirit is in you. Baptism in the Spirit is being immersed in the Spirit — like drinking water versus diving into the pool. The Spirit was not fully given until Jesus was glorified (John 7:39).
🩸 Consciousness of the Blood Releases the Anointing
- ✅ Be conscious of the blood that ever cleanses — not your failures
- ✅ Boldness to enter the holiest is by the blood, not your performance
- ✅ When good things happen, receive them — grace means blessings you did not earn, paid for by Christ
- ✅ Pride in your own accomplishments causes you to fall from grace
Hebrews 10:19 (NKJV)
“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.”
🌾 Redeemed From the Curse for Abraham’s Blessing
Galatians 3:13–14 (NKJV)
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us… that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
| Curse of the law (Deuteronomy 28) | What Christ did |
|---|---|
| Poverty, sickness, loss | Became a curse on the cross — only hanging on a tree qualifies |
| Long continuance of disease | Blood justifies; cross redeems from curse |
| Applies to all under law | Abraham’s blessing (righteousness + Spirit) comes on Gentiles through faith |
The blessing of Abraham is righteousness — and righteousness attracts every other blessing. Proverbs says blessings are upon the head of the righteous. The promise of the Spirit is the blessing that brings every other blessing into fulfilment.
🌳 Perception vs Reasoning: The Tree of Knowledge
Adam was told not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The danger is not only evil — good judged by human reasoning is equally deadly. The right question is not “Is this good or bad?” but “Is this what the Spirit is saying?”
| Living by reasoning | Living by the Spirit |
|---|---|
| Scribes “reasoned in their hearts” (Mark 2:6) | Jesus “perceived in His spirit” (Mark 2:8) |
| Experts overruled Paul’s warning (Acts 27) | Inner witness before the mind catches up |
| Favourable south wind = “go!” | Spirit says wait — disaster follows disobedience |
| Doing a “good” thing against God’s timing | Spirit leads to paths of peace and plenty |
Acts 27:10, 21 (NKJV)
“Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster… Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.”
Paul perceived disaster before it happened. The helmsman and ship owner trusted circumstances; the centurion later listened — and all lives were spared. Praying in the Spirit sensitises your spirit so you perceive faster than your mind can reason.
⚠️ Guardrail: Spirit leading never contradicts God’s Word. It will not tell you to divorce, cheat, or give “a piece of your mind.” It leads to peace, rest, and the land flowing with milk and honey — Malta in Greek means honey.
📊 Summary: How to Walk Led by the Spirit
| Step | Scripture anchor | Practice |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Receive abundant life | John 10:10 | Believe Jesus came for life more abundant — not redeemed evils |
| 2. Honour the blood | 1 John 1:7 | Stay conscious of continuous cleansing — Spirit responds to blood |
| 3. Receive the Promise | Acts 2:33 | Be baptised in the Holy Spirit; pray in tongues to sensitise your spirit |
| 4. Claim your redemption | Galatians 3:13 | Christ redeemed you from curse — receive Abraham’s blessing |
| 5. Perceive, don’t reason | Mark 2:8; Acts 27:10 | Follow inner witness over experts, circumstances, and logic |
| 6. Obey impressions | Romans 8:14 | As led by the Spirit — into every blessing paid for by Christ |
Romans 8:14 (NKJV)
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
⚠️ Final word: Everything — forgiveness, healing, prosperity, the Holy Spirit, and Spirit-led guidance — was paid for by Jesus’ blood. Do not leave heaven’s storehouse unclaimed. Be led by the Spirit into every blessing Christ purchased for you.
