Seek, Ask, Speak, Inherit Blessings — Four Ways Jabez Was Honoured

🙏 Seek, Ask, Speak, Inherit Blessings — Four Ways Jabez Was Honoured

“Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory…” So God granted him what he requested.”1 Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV)

🎨 Highlight key: 🟩 = grace / faith-truth · 🟨 = precious promise · bold = key terms

1️⃣ Seek Blessings — ஆசீர்வாதத்தை விரும்பு

Why was Jabez honoured? He did not fix his eyes on unfavourable circumstances — he sought blessing. Psalm 109 warns that loving curse brings curse, while neglecting blessing lets it slip away. You must actively desire blessing, not passively accept trouble.

Psalm 109:17 (NKJV)

“He loved to pronounce a curse… He found no pleasure in blessing—may it be far from him.”Psalm 109:17 (NKJV)

Psalm 34:19 (NKJV)

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”Psalm 34:19 (NKJV)

Proverbs 12:21 (NKJV)

No grave trouble will overtake the righteous, But the wicked shall be filled with evil.”Proverbs 12:21 (NKJV)

2️⃣ Ask for Blessings — ஆசீர்வாதத்தைக் கேள்

Jabez was more honourable than his brothers — yet his mother named him Pain. The one thing Scripture highlights about him is how he prayed: bless me, enlarge my territory, Your hand with me, keep me from evil. God granted his request.

  1. Bless me indeed
  2. Enlarge my territory
  3. Your hand be with me
  4. Keep me from harm
  5. Free from pain

1 Chronicles 4:9–10 (NKJV)

“Jabez was more honorable than his brothers… ‘Because I bore him in pain.’… ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory…’ So God granted him what he requested.”1 Chronicles 4:9–10 (NKJV)

3️⃣ Speak Blessing — ஆசீர்வாதத்தைப் பேசு

You are a chosen people, royal priesthood, holy nation — formed to proclaim His praises, not your sufferings. Faith speaks what is not yet seen: health when sickness surrounds, peace in turmoil, joy amid pain.

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

“…that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

Isaiah 43:21 (NKJV)

“This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.”Isaiah 43:21 (NKJV)

2 Corinthians 3:6 (NKJV)

“…ministers of the new covenant… the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”2 Corinthians 3:6 (NKJV)

4️⃣ Inherit Blessings — ஆசீர்வாதத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்

Israel sent twelve spies — ten spoke facts (giants, fortified cities) but missed the promise. Their report was evil though partly true. Caleb and Joshua spoke the promise: we are well able. Whatever you speak shapes what you inherit.

Ten spiesCaleb & Joshua
Spoke observable factsSpoke God’s promise
Evil report — giants“We are well able to overcome”
Missed inheritanceInherited the land
Looked at the stormLooked at the God who is bigger

1 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

“…but on the contrary blessing… that you may inherit a blessing.”1 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

Numbers 13:32 (NKJV)

“…a bad report… all the people… are men of great stature.”Numbers 13:32 (NKJV)

Numbers 13:30 (NKJV)

“Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”Numbers 13:30 (NKJV)

Numbers 14:8 (NKJV)

“…a land which flows with milk and honey.”Numbers 14:8 (NKJV)

Numbers 14:24 (NKJV)

“My servant Caleb… has a different spirit… his descendants shall inherit it.”Numbers 14:24 (NKJV)

🎯 The Takeaway

  1. Seek blessings — actively desire them; do not let blessing slip away
  2. Ask for blessings — pray boldly like Jabez; God granted his request
  3. Speak blessings — proclaim praise, health, peace, and promise
  4. Inherit blessings — speak the promise, not facts alone; Caleb’s different spirit
  5. New covenant call — ministers who announce and inherit blessing in Christ
