16 “你们禁食的时候，不要象那些虚伪的人，做出一副愁眉苦脸的样子。他们装出一脸苦象，为的是让众人都知道他们在禁食。我实话告诉你们，他们已经得到了足够的报偿。

2 施洗者约翰在狱中听到基督的事迹，就派他的门徒去问耶稣：

18 约翰来了，他不吃东西，也不饮酒。人们便说∶‘他被鬼缠身了。’

18 这时正赶上约翰的门徒和法利赛人在禁食，有人问耶稣说∶“为什么约翰的门徒和法利赛人要禁食，而你的门徒却不禁食呢？”

33 那些人又说道∶“约翰的门徒和法利赛人的门徒，经常禁食和祈祷，而你的门徒却总是又吃又喝。”

9 耶稣又讲了一个比喻，是针对那些认为自己正义而瞧不起别人的人。他说：

25 当时，约翰的门徒和一个犹太人针对洁净仪式一事发生了争论，

1 耶稣得知法利赛人听说他嬴得施洗的门徒比约翰的门徒多时，（事实上，并不是耶稣为人施洗礼，而是他的门徒为人施洗礼，）
